Since Kate Middleton started dating Prince William in 2002 the media and everyone else wanted to find out everything about her. By 2005/6 the media found out where she lived, who she hung out with, what she did almost every day of the week but there was one thing people didn’t know. What did Kate sound like?

In 2007 Kate was visiting a marketing show on behalf of her parents company and the promotion team of the convention where doing interviews with various business people asking them what they thought of the convention. They spotted Kate and she said a few words.

I remember when I first heard this and I really surprised by her accent, I thought she would sound more middle class as she was famous for being the normal middle girl.

The engagement interview came round and my goodness. I was even more shocked by how posh she sounded, in fact many people commented that she sounded more posh than William.

I know it’s difficult to tell the difference when you only have one clip that is 10 seconds long and another clip that is 10 minutes long. But to me Kate’s accent during the interview sounds fake and many British people agree. I think British people can tell if someone is putting on an accent that is not their natural one the same way only an American could tell if a person is truly speaking in a southern American accent or pretending.

In fact in many of the Biography’s of the royal couple mention this change in Kate’s voice one example is from Robert Jobson who wrote “William and Kate - The Love Story”  it quotes one of Kate friends at Marlborough college saying.

“Kate did speak with a middle class accent that made her stand out from the other upper crust girls, I think she became very self conscious of that. She very gradually started to change her accent to a more upper class accent. By the time she left Marlborough she sounded more posh than the posh girls. “

It’s interesting and sad that Kate felt the need to change the way she talked in order to fit in. Especially since her sister Pippa who went to the same schools as Kate doesn’t seem to have as strong a “Posh” accent.

The reason I’m bringing all this up is because on her most recent charity visit to an outdoor camping site for children which is run by ARK. She seems to be speaking mainly in what I like to call, her real voice.

I am crazy? Am I the only one who hears the difference? I really hope she drops her fake posh accent and just be her self and not what others want her to be. That’s no way to live your life.

When these pictures started making their way round tumblr I couldn’t help but roll my eyes. “Yet another Gala”. But as the pictures and articles stared to appear, I noticed something. William wasn’t there? Oh he was there at the Gala. But in the vast majority of media coverage he’s is not even mentioned or only mentioned in passing. The Daily Mail article is a perfect example of what I am talking about.

Not only is William ignored but so is the charity and the Olympic stars who William and Kate are supposed to support. According to the media Kate’s dress and hairstyle are far more important than the Olympic Stars that are training every day in the hopes that they can bring home the gold for the UK and of course more important than William.

However I don’t blame Kate for upstaging William. I blame William. Maybe if William did something other taking his wife to Galas and movie premiers and actually did some real charity work like his bother Harry then maybe he wouldn’t be over looked as much.

Number 1 — Taking 8 months to pick 5 charities

OK I mentioned this in my introduction, Kate and William had been talking about marriage well before they got engaged in fact William said and I quote.

“We had been talking about marriage for a while so it wasn’t a massively big surprise. I took her up somewhere nice in Kenya and I proposed.—- We’ve been talking about it for a long time so for us, it’s a real relief and it’s really nice to be able to tell everybody.—— that’s kind of almost why I have been waiting this long, I wanted to give her a chance to see in and to back out if she needed to before it all got too much. ”

So basically Kate has had the last two years to research charities and learn royal protocol as that is when She and William talked about marriage. I am sick to death of people saying “but she needs to get used to royal life first before working”

Firstly, The only way you can get used to royal life is by.. oh I don’t know. Doing royal duties. Princess Anna once said “There is no guide book you can really only learn by doing it, that’s how I learned.” Secondly, When she was visiting fortnum & mason Diamond Jubilee Tea salon with the Queen, she was recorded asking a boy scout what kind of uniform he had on. If she was researching her charities for 8 months then surely she would know all the boy scouts uniforms now.

Lastly, lets not forget that in the past Kate has not had any interest in charity unless it’s a glamorous events, in-fact prior to the media white wash of the engagement Kate was better known for ignoring charities rather than supporting them,

Throughout her 8 year relationship with William she was given many invitations to charity events but has either declined or just ignored them. Her most famous charity fail was the sisterhood charity boat race. Which she did a few weeks training then left for no reason, the media made excuses on her behalf but I personally think she couldn’t be bothered getting up in the morning. Also I find it funny she was the only girl with full make up and her hair down during training and seems to smile in the direction of the cameras.

In short I feel that her 8 months researching was just one excuse in the long line of excuses that people make for Her and Williams laziness. I wonder how long royalists like my self are going to have to wait until William the heir to the throne gets his act together. I know that I have talked a lot about William in these lists but really a lot of them blame needs to be on his shoulders. I can’t help but feel he is allowing Kate to take center stage and in turn letting her take a lot of criticism just so people don’t notice him. I think William unlike Charles is happy that his wife gets all the attention because clearly he doesn’t want it.
